Redcliffe Labs Introduces AI-Powered ‘Face Scan’ for Instant Preventive Health Screening
Redcliffe Labs has recently launched Face Scan, an AI-driven and contactless wellness screening tool. This tool is designed to provide instant health insights in just 30 seconds using any camera-enabled device such as a smartphone. This contactless technology represents a significant step toward India’s preventive healthcare landscape.
Redcliffe Labs is a purpose-driven, pan-India diagnostics provider committed to its mission of Giving India its Right to Quality Diagnostics, with technology-led innovations that support a healthier future through early awareness and prevention.
Addressing India’s Healthcare Challenge
Over 500 million people in India are currently living with or face risks from chronic and lifestyle-related conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. Health experts estimate that roughly 70% of these conditions can be prevented or effectively managed through proactive health awareness and early behavioral changes.
A First Health Checkpoint for Everyday Life
Face Scan is designed to fit seamlessly into daily routines. It offers instant access to wellness indicators anytime and anywhere. Rather than replacing clinical diagnostics, this tool functions as an intelligent "early-warning system." It helps users identify potential health concerns and guides them toward further evaluation when needed.
“Everybody has the right to have an easy way to keep track of their well-being,” said Aditya Kandoi, CEO, Redcliffe Labs. “This is more than technology; this is 30 seconds of peace of mind. By making preventive analytics readily available, whenever, wherever, we are empowering people to make meaningful changes early and live healthy lives.”
How Face Scan Works
Face Scan uses a blend of artificial intelligence along with remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) and remote ballistocardiography (rBCG) to analyze physiological signals captured through a short facial video.
rPPG detects minute color changes in the skin caused by blood flow. This enables contactless estimation of heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), breathing rate, and blood pressure without any physical contact.
rBCG analyses subtle micro-movements of the head. This improves accuracy in low-light conditions and across diverse skin tones, including higher melanin concentrations.
Using these technologies, Face Scan delivers real-time wellness indicators related to heart health, blood pressure, and stress levels.
Not a Medical Device, but a Preventive Tool
Redcliffe Labs has clearly stated that this technology is not intended to function as a medical device or provide clinical diagnoses. Instead, it acts as a preventive awareness tool. It encourages users to seek professional care if potential risks are flagged.
With repeated use, the AI system allows users to track trends and variations in wellness indicators over time, supporting informed decision-making and early lifestyle interventions before the progression of health conditions.
Strengthening Preventive Healthcare in India
It is launched under the #FaceItToday initiative. The Face Scan reflects Redcliffe’s broader mission to make preventive healthcare simple, accessible, and intuitive for people across India. By transforming smartphones into personal wellness checkpoints, the company aims to reduce barriers to early health awareness and empower individuals to take charge of their well-being.
As the campaign message highlights:
“Face it today, because the earlier you look, the better you can protect tomorrow.”
