British lifestyle influencer Faye Greenwood suffered a heart attack at age 24 while on holiday in Paris, France in July 2025. Greenwood, who has a significant following on TikTok and Instagram, experienced severe symptoms including chest pain and vomiting during the trip.
According to Greenwood’s account, first responders initially believed she was intoxicated, possibly due to her age and appearance at the scene, leading to delays in hospital admission. She was reportedly made to wait in pain for several hours.
She went back to room to rest from emergency room since she waited a long time without being getting any treatment.
But at night, when symptoms worsened (vomiting blood) her fiancé, also a social media content creator, Ailbhe Lower, called for further medical assistance, and she was eventually admitted to a Paris hospital for emergency care.
Prior to the event, Greenwood had been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart’s main pumping chamber (the left ventricle) becomes enlarged (dilated) and less effective at pumping blood.
Dilated cardiomyopathy can impair the heart’s ability to circulate blood efficiently and may lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and arrhythmias.
The exact cause of a heart attack in someone with this condition can be complex; while dilated cardiomyopathy affects heart function, it is not always directly responsible for ischemic events like heart attacks. Contributing factors may include impaired cardiac output or arrhythmias, but in Greenwood’s case, the precise trigger for her heart attack remains unclear.
Her diagnosis, while significant, was not definitively determined to be the cause of the cardiac event.
After initial stabilization in Paris, Greenwood was repatriated to the United Kingdom via air ambulance.
Once back in the UK, Greenwood was placed on a heart transplant waiting list. Though she was initially informed that a donor heart might take up to a year, a suitable match was found more quickly. She successfully underwent a heart transplant operation and remained hospitalized for just over four months before being discharged.
Greenwood publicly shared her experience on social media in October, expressing gratitude and reflecting on the emotional and physical challenges she faced. She described a range of feeling gratitude, grief, inspiration after nearly losing her life and receiving a “new heart.”
She also highlighted her ongoing recovery process, acknowledging both the seriousness of her condition and the impact of such a major surgical intervention.
Following her recovery, Greenwood encouraged others especially young adults to seek medical evaluation if they notice symptoms that could indicate a serious health issue.
