BENGALURU — On October 21, 2025, Dr. Praveen, a 56-year-old dermatologist, was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly sexually harassing a 21-year-old woman during a consultation at his private clinic in the Ashok Nagar area. The incident has raised serious concerns about patient safety and professional conduct in medical settings.
According to reports, the woman visited Dr. Praveen's clinic on October 18 seeking treatment for a skin infection. During the examination, she alleges that the doctor forced her to undress and subjected her to inappropriate touching, hugging, and kissing.
The woman further claims that Dr. Praveen made indecent remarks and suggested meeting her later at a hotel. Distressed by the incident, she immediately informed her family, who subsequently lodged a complaint at the Ashok Nagar Police Station.
The patient noted that she usually attended the clinic accompanied by her father, who was unable to be present on that occasion.
Following the woman's complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 75 (sexual harassment) and Section 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Dr. Praveen was promptly arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the allegations and ensure justice for the victim.
On September 9, 2025, a 21-year-old woman visited Burari Government Hospital in Delhi for treatment of a chest lump. During her consultation, a resident doctor allegedly entered the examination room without permission and touched her inappropriately under the guise of a medical examination.
Later, he is said to have followed her to the hospital's basement X-ray room, where he attempted to conduct another examination in private, making the patient feel unsafe and threatened.
The woman managed to escape and immediately reported the incident to the police. The doctor, identified as Mohammed Imran, was arrested on September 10, 2025, and later released on bail.
