A 65 year old retired government doctor from Gwalior has been booked for allegedly drugging and raping a 30 year old woman patient at a hotel in Bhopal’s MP Nagar Zone 2 area, police said.

The accused, identified as Amrish Sengar, had been treating the woman, a housewife from Gwalior, for a skin disease. According to police, he persuaded her to travel to Bhopal on February 14 on the pretext of consulting a specialist and undergoing tests unavailable in Gwalior.

Sedative Allegedly Mixed With Medication

The complainant alleged that the doctor gave her medication containing a sleeping pill on the night of February 14. Because of the sedative effect, she said she was unable to resist him despite trying to.

Investigators said Sengar took the woman to a hotel in MP Nagar after arriving in the city. She reportedly asked for a separate room, but he claimed no other room was available. The alleged sexual assault occurred the same night.

Treatment History and Suspicion

Police stated the woman had been undergoing treatment under Sengar in Gwalior, but instead of improving, her skin condition worsened and spread further. The doctor then suggested consultation with a specialist in Bhopal, which led to the trip.

Authorities confirmed Sengar had retired from a government hospital prior to the incident.

FIR Registered, Probe Underway

Based on the woman’s complaint, MP Nagar police registered a rape case against the accused on Tuesday and began an investigation.

Officials said the survivor’s identity has not been disclosed in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines in sexual assault cases.

Police have initiated further evidence collection, including statements from hotel staff and verification of travel and treatment related records.
