Handwritten Bomb-Making Note Triggers Security Scare at Ayodhya Medical College; First-Year Paramedical Student Detained

A first-year paramedical student at Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College, Ayodhya, was detained for questioning after a handwritten note allegedly containing bomb-making information was recovered from the institution's X-ray laboratory, police said. Investigators are verifying the student's claim that he copied the information from a movie while on night duty. Authorities have clarified that no arrest has been made and no charges have been filed so far.

According to PTI, the suspicious note was discovered by staff members after the completion of the night shift in the X-ray laboratory on Saturday August 1. The staff handed the note to the medical college administration, which immediately informed the police in accordance with standard operating procedures.

The student, identified as Sarfaraz, is a resident of Balrampur district and is pursuing a laboratory technician course at the medical college.

According to officials quoted by PTI, the handwritten note was recovered from the X-ray laboratory after the night shift ended. Staff members found the contents suspicious and immediately reported the matter to the medical college administration.

The Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College said the administration promptly alerted the police after the note was found. The college followed the prescribed standard operating procedures before handing over the matter to law enforcement.

Police subsequently launched an investigation and detained the student for questioning.

Police identified the student as Sarfaraz, a first-year paramedical student from Balrampur district enrolled in the laboratory technician programme at Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College.

Officials have clarified that Sarfaraz has been detained only for questioning. No formal arrest has been made, and no charges have been filed against him at this stage.

According to police officials, Sarfaraz told investigators during preliminary questioning that he had been watching a movie on his laptop while on night duty and copied onto paper the bomb-making information shown in the film.

Police said they are currently verifying this claim as part of the investigation.

Authorities have not announced any conclusions regarding the purpose of the handwritten note, and the inquiry remains ongoing.

Given the nature of the contents recovered, multiple security agencies joined the investigation.

According to police sources, officials from the Special Operations Group (SOG), Special Task Force (STF), Special Branch, and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) questioned the student at the police lines.

Investigators also questioned another student who was on duty during the same shift. A third student, who had already left for his hometown after completing the shift, is being contacted as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Police have emphasised that the investigation is still at a preliminary stage.

According to officials, no arrest has been made and no formal charges have been filed in connection with the case. Investigators are continuing to examine the student's statement and other evidence before deciding on any further legal action.

The investigation remains ongoing.
