18-Year-Old Medical Student in Delhi Accuses Friend of Rape and Video Blackmail

An 18-year-old medical student in Delhi has accused a friend of drugging, sexually assaulting, and blackmailing her with explicit photos and videos. The alleged incident took place on September 9, 2025, at a hotel in Adarsh Nagar, Northwest Delhi.

According to police, the accused, identified as Anmol, befriended the victim through social media and later convinced her to meet at a hotel. The complaint states that he allegedly mixed an intoxicant in her drink before assaulting her and filming the act without her knowledge. The victim, who resides in her college hostel and belongs from Haryana, stated that the accused lured her under the pretense of friendship. She alleges that he administered intoxicants, assaulted her, and recorded the act without her consent. Following the incident, the accused reportedly threatened her using the footage.

The student lodged a formal complaint detailing the assault and continued harassment. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those addressing rape and blackmail.

A case has been filed under Sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by poison), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Officials from Adarsh Nagar police station have confirmed that the accused is absconding, and several teams have been deployed to trace him. Investigators have also seized CCTV footage from the hotel as part of the probe.

The accused has not yet been caught, and police are continuing their efforts to locate him.

In response, the medical college has launched an internal inquiry to evaluate the circumstances surrounding the case.

The investigation will assess whether institutional protocols were followed and may result in policy revisions aimed at enhancing student safety.

College authorities have stated that they are cooperating fully with the police investigation and reviewing hostel safety policies to prevent similar incidents. Authorities are also considering measures to educate students about personal safety and legal recourse.

In a comparable incident reported from Kanpur in October 2025, a gym trainer was arrested after a woman accused him of drugging her, recording explicit photos and videos, and using them to extort money and sexually exploit her. Police stated that the accused had threatened to leak the material if she refused his demands, underscoring the growing concern over digital sexual exploitation across India.
