Meerut/Amroha, December 4, 2025: In a devastating late-night accident, four MBBS students from Shri Venkateshwara University, Amroha, died on December 3 after their speeding car collided with a stationary truck on the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway-9 in Rajabpur, Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday, when the car reportedly travelling at high speed from the Gajraula side, rammed into a stationary DCM truck loaded with foam mattresses near Atarasi village, just 7 km from the university campus.
The impact was so severe that the front half of the car became lodged inside the truck’s rear, leaving the vehicle completely mangled.
Rajabpur Station Officer Komal Tomar said, “They died on the spot, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.”
Local residents reported hearing a “loud explosion-like sound” and immediately alerted police.
Because of the extreme damage to the car, rescue operations were difficult. Police and local residents used a tractor to separate the two vehicles, after which officers used a gas cutter to retrieve the victims from the crushed cabin.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand said the bodies were shifted to the mortuary. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted once the families arrive.
The deceased were identified as:
Dr Aayush Sharma (23) – Dwarka, Delhi
Dr Saptarishi Das (24) – Agartala, Tripura
Dr Arnab Chakraborty (25) – Kolkata
Dr Shreshtha Pancholi (24) – Alwar, Rajasthan
All four were 2020 batch MBBS graduates from Shri Venkateshwara University, Gajraula, and were undergoing internships. They were returning to campus after attending a party.
A fellow student at the mortuary said all four were the only sons in their families.
Ayush’s father serves as an ASI with Delhi Police. Shreshtha’s father, a government school teacher, had earlier died in a road accident during poll duty as a booth-level officer. His mother is a government teacher, and his younger sister is also pursuing MBBS.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the deaths. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, he directed officials to reach the site immediately, expedite relief work, and ensure medical assistance for any injured persons.
Police said that further investigation and legal proceedings are underway, including inquiries into the truck’s illegal parking and possible speeding or intoxication by the car’s driver.
