A junior resident doctor from the Department of Medicine at JLN Medical College, Ajmer has lodged a serious complaint alleging months of mental and physical harassment by the Head of the Department. The complaint was formally submitted to the college administration on January 24, 2026, raising concerns about workplace safety and mental well being among young doctors.
According to the junior resident, the harassment began nearly 10 to 11 months ago and continued without relief. He alleged that the senior professor repeatedly humiliated him in front of patients, nursing staff, and colleagues. The doctor stated that the behavior caused severe mental stress and made it difficult for him to function normally at work.
In his complaint, the resident explained that the professor frequently used abusive language and scolded him over minor issues. He said he was often made to stand for long periods and was subjected to harsh verbal attacks even when he was carrying out his duties sincerely.
The resident doctor further alleged that he was routinely assigned sudden and unrealistic tasks, such as arranging emergency MRI scans or preparing admission paperwork at short notice. When these tasks were not completed immediately, he claimed the professor would shout at him and insult him publicly.
He stated that the pressure was not related to patient care or academic performance but appeared intended to intimidate and break him mentally. The doctor emphasized that no patient or hospital staff member had ever complained about his work.
The complaint also mentioned alleged threats, including verbal intimidation and references to the authority of the college principal. The resident said the professor repeatedly warned him of consequences for small mistakes and used fear as a tool of control.
The doctor shared that he had joined the institution to learn and serve patients, but the constant harassment severely affected his mental health. He noted that other senior doctors in the department treated him respectfully and professionally, making the conduct of the accused professor stand out.
In a deeply concerning statement, the resident doctor wrote that if anything untoward were to happen to him or if he were forced into taking an extreme step due to continued harassment, the responsibility would lie with the Principal and Controller of JLN Hospital administration.
He also expressed fear of retaliation, stating that false complaints could be filed against him or that patients and their attendants might be influenced to target him unfairly.
Following the complaint, the All FMGs Association took to social media to highlight the issue. The association stated that the case reflects the growing mental health crisis faced by doctors working in government medical colleges.
The group urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar to intervene and ensure a fair and transparent inquiry into the allegations.
