A Ludhiana-based neuro center owner has approached the police after alleging that a former doctor associated with the facility tried to extort ₹25 lakh and threatened serious consequences if the demand was not met.

Police have registered a case against the accused, Mannu Bhargav, a resident of Hoshiarpur, on the basis of a complaint filed by Dr. Neelam Arora and her daughter Dr. Niharika Arora, who run the Arora Neuro Centre on Mall Road in Ludhiana.

The FIR has been registered at Division Number 8 police station under Sections 308(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused is currently absconding, and police teams have begun efforts to trace him.

Complaint Claims Repeated Threats and Pressure

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh from the doctors and warned them that he would ensure their hospital gets shut down if they did not pay. The complainants also claimed that he threatened to harm them personally.

The matter reportedly created fear and tension for the hospital owners, prompting them to seek police intervention.

Doctors Say He Was Removed From the Centre Earlier

In their complaint, Dr. Neelam Arora and Dr. Niharika Arora stated that Mannu Bhargav had earlier worked with their center but was later removed from his position. They reportedly cited unethical conduct and poor performance as the reasons behind the termination.

After being removed, the accused allegedly began targeting the hospital through repeated actions meant to pressure the management.

Multiple Complaints Filed Against the Centre, No Violations Found

The complainants further alleged that the accused made several complaints against the neuro center to different authorities. These included departments linked to fire safety, health, and police.

However, as per the complaint, inspections were conducted and the authorities did not find any violations at the facility. The doctors claimed that despite these findings, the accused continued to harass them.

They alleged that when his earlier complaints did not lead to action against the center, he allegedly escalated the situation by demanding money and issuing threats.

Police Register FIR, Search Underway

After receiving the complaint, Ludhiana police registered the case and initiated an investigation. Officials are now trying to locate the accused, who has reportedly been on the run since the case was registered.

Police sources indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
