NEET PG 2026 Jaipur Power Failure Disrupts Exam at 2 Centres; NBEMS Announces September 5 Re-Examination

The NEET PG 2026 examination was disrupted at two iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura, Jaipur, on August 30. Students reported repeated computer shutdowns during the exam and protested outside the centres. It was observed that an internal power supply repeatedly affected computer systems, leaving 2,445 candidates unable to complete their exam. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has scheduled a re-examination for the affected candidates. The exam will now be conducted on September 5 at 3 p.m. in Jaipur.

According to The Hindu, the NEET PG 2026 exam was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., but students at the both centres reported that the exam was delayed by about an hour because of the power issue. Computers at the centres were causing the disturbance due to repeatedly shutdown which forcing them to wait for the systems to restart again.

A NEET PG student, Vishnu Sharma, told The Times of India that the computer systems shut down repeatedly, sometimes after only a few questions were attempted. He said “this happened at least 10-15 times,” adding, “several candidates started discussing questions with each other. It looked like a school test for Class 7 or 8, more than a national-level entrance exam.”

In a statement released on Sunday, the health ministry attributed the disruption to internal power supply problem at the centres, which is said were attributable to TCS Ltd., the agency who was handling the in-charge of conducting the exam.

NEET PG is a computer-based medical entrance examination; therefore, uninterrupted electricity and functioning computer systems are important for students to read questions, record answers, and complete the test within the required time.

Repeated shutdowns can also lead to candidate’s overall concentration and disturb his/her mental peace.

Across India, NEET PG 2026 was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 centres in 339 cities. Out of the 2,65,980 candidates who appeared, around 2,63,535 completed the examination.

According to the TOI, NBEMS has arranged a three-member committee to check the circumstances behind the Jaipur disruption. A senior Rajasthan government official, a Joint Secretary-level officer from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and a senior engineering official from the Central Electricity Authority, will now investigate the cause behind it.

The committee will now see the reasons for the internal power supply failure and submit its report.

On August 22, another examination disruption was noted, the National Testing Agency ordered a re-test for affected candidates after a power failure disrupted the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test at a Jaipur centre.

Meanwhile, NBEMS has said the September 5 re-examination is organized to provide affected candidates with a fair and reasonable opportunity to complete the NEET PG examination.
