A well-known rural practitioner, identified as Dr. Sapan Das, was found dead with his throat slit late on Saturday night, November 8. Police have arrested one accused while the second suspect is still on the run.

Doctor Attacked While Returning Home

According to police officials, Dr. Das was attacked while returning home from his clinic in Budhmu. The incident took place near Matve village under Budhmu police station limits. Locals said two men intercepted him on the road and one of them slit his throat. The doctor collapsed on the spot and died due to excessive bleeding before help could arrive.

A Respected Local Doctor

Dr. Sapan Das was originally from Rajapur village in West Bengal’s 24 Parganas district. He had been living on rent for nearly a decade in the house of Tabarak Ansari in Matve village, where he ran a small clinic. Locals fondly called him the “Bengali Doctor.” Known for his dedication and kindness, he had been treating patients in Budhmu and nearby villages for about five to ten years. Many residents said he was always available to help, even during late hours.

Police Investigation and Arrest

After receiving information about the murder, a police team from Budhmu reached the spot and sent the body to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for post-mortem. Within hours, police managed to arrest one of the suspects. The arrested man is being interrogated to uncover the motive behind the killing and identify his accomplice.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may have been the result of a personal dispute. One of the suspects is believed to be a drug addict. Investigators are now trying to determine whether there was any financial or personal enmity involved. The police have not ruled out any possibilities and are waiting for forensic reports to confirm the details.

Shock and Outrage Among Locals
