A video allegedly showing worms in food served to patients at Civil Hospital in Sector 10A, Gurugram, has triggered concern and prompted an official probe.
The clip, which surfaced on March 18, 2026, shows two plates of food appearing to contain worms inside a patient room near the emergency ward. A patient is also seen lying on a bed in the background.
In the video, a person questions the state of hospital services and directly appeals to the Haryana Chief Minister, asking whether patients come to hospitals for treatment or to face such conditions.
Authorities have not verified the authenticity of the viral footage.
Officials said the video is believed to have been recorded on Monday, based on geotagging and visual indicators, but confirmation is still pending. The clip quickly circulated on social media, drawing criticism over hygiene standards in government hospitals.
Some users also highlighted that the Gurugram Civil Hospital is operating under heavy patient load, raising broader concerns about infrastructure and oversight.
Hospital authorities denied any negligence in food preparation.
Officials stated that all meals for patients are prepared in a hygienic, in-house kitchen located on the ground floor of the facility. A senior staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that dieticians and designated managers inspect food daily before it is distributed.
Gurugram Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Lokveer Singh confirmed that an inquiry has been initiated.
He stated that initial findings suggest the food seen in the viral video does not match the hospital’s standard menu for that day.
According to Dr. Singh, there is a possibility that the food was brought from outside or arranged separately by the patient’s attendants. He added that the investigation will determine the exact source of the food and identify any responsibility.
Following the incident, hospital authorities have directed dieticians to ensure that only fresh and safe meals are served to patients.
Dr. Lokveer Singh said strict action will be taken against any staff member or contractor found responsible if lapses are confirmed. Officials reiterated that the hospital maintains standard food safety practices, and the probe will assess whether any breach occurred in preparation or distribution.
