Hyderabad: A case was booked under UAPA by Yellareddypet police against Dr. MF Gopinath, a Khammam-based cardiologist, Gade Innaiah, leaders of 'Bharat Bachao, and Chandranna, a Maoist central committee member. The case was booked after their alleged associate was caught with Maoist literature and gelatine sticks.

Dr. Gopinath said that he was falsely implicated in the case while talking to TOI.

Dr. Gopinath added that the state and the central governments are upset with 'Bharat Bachao'. The governments wanted to stifle their voices by implicating them in false cases. So far, no information has been received from the police. They would take up a legal fight against the case.

The incident took place on November 18, but it came to light on Tuesday. The case came to light when Gopinath found out that a case had been booked against him. Later, Gopinath alleged that he was implicated in a false case while speaking to the media. As per the FIR, a vehicle checking was conducted by N. Ramakanth, a Yellareddypet SI, on November 18 at 6 a.m. The vehicle checking was done near the Karimnagar milk dairy, which was situated on the outskirts of Yellareddypet.

Police intercepted a white car. G. Srinivas, 40, a businessman from Mucharla village in Gambhiraopet mandal, was driving the car. When interrogated, Srinivas allegedly confessed that he was travelling to Chhattisgarh to meet Pulluri Prasad Rao, alias Chandranna. Srinivas also confessed that he met Pulluri Prasad Rao once.

The police alleged that Chandranna had been talking to Srinivas on the phone, instructing him to collect and deliver party funds for six months. As per the FIR, recently, Srinivas had received 27 lakh from unknown persons.

The police said that from the amount received, Srinivas gave 15 lakh to Gade Innaiah, 10 lakh to MF Gopinath, and 2 lakh to J. Ramesh for Bharath Bachao, as per the orders of Chandranna.

The SI said that they seized gelatine sticks and 3.7 lakh cash from Srinivas. A UAPA case was registered against Srinivas, Chandranna, Innalah, Gopinath, and J. Ramesh on his confession.
