What do you do?
I’m a Consultant Pediatric Dentist, currently working at various private clinics in Pattambi, Kerala.
What prompted you to choose this profession?
My choice was shaped by a combination of technical curiosity and a strong commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to children.
What was the best part about being a dental professional?
I was drawn to the challenge of making dental visits for young children less intimidating, ensuring comfort and the best treatment at the same time.
How do you like spending your free time?
Mostly with my family. I spend most of my free time reading novels—historical novels, fantasy, and thrillers.
Which is your favorite subject in dentistry and why?
Pediatric dentistry—it’s an amalgamation of multiple disciplines within dentistry, medicine, and psychology. Conservative dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, and surgery—all come together in this field.
Which is your least favorite subject in dentistry?
Public Health Dentistry.
What are some studying tips you use to retain and understand things better?
Case-oriented studying, active recall, and repetition of the topics covered daily.
Which dental procedure(s) do you enjoy/anticipate doing the most?
Pulpectomy since I am a pedodontics.
What do you enjoy more, doing an RCT or extracting teeth?
Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
What are some challenges you face in your professional field?
As a pediatric dentist, I face unique challenges that require compassionate and technical skills to manage. These include handling dental anxiety in every young child, managing children with special healthcare needs, treatment planning for primary teeth, early orthodontic interventions, and dealing with parental misconceptions and expectations.
How would your friends describe you?
They would describe me as curious and loyal. I try to engage with people and initiate conversations so that others feel comfortable talking to me. I do my best to comfort people during difficult moments.
What has been the best/most memorable moment in your dental school so far?
Best Paper Recognition at the National Conference – ISPPD (Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry), 2023.
Has dentistry impacted your food choices? Like, do you consume less sugary and sticky food items?
Yes, definitely.
As a dental health professional, what is your dental health care regime?
It includes brushing twice daily, dental flossing, and regular dental check-ups every 6 months.
If given a choice, what alternate career would you have opted for?
Pursuing a career in the medical field has been my lifelong dream since childhood. Teaching is my next favorite profession.
Where would you like to work in the future?
I would love to shift my practice to academics in the near future, combining both my passions.
What is your dream travel destination?
France.
