The murder was uncovered around noon when the doctor’s driver arrived at his residence to pick him up. The victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood, suffering from multiple stab wounds and a deep cut on his neck. Authorities suspect the murder took place the night before.
Police officials confirmed that a PCR call reporting the incident was received at the Maidangarhi police station at 11:55 a.m.
Investigators swiftly examined CCTV footage from the area, which led them to the suspect. Sunny Sharma, who works as a nutritionist, was located and detained in the Maidangarhi area.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan, the suspect was acquainted with the victim. During initial questioning, Sharma reportedly confessed to killing the doctor, claiming the doctor had behaved inappropriately with him. The police are currently verifying these statements as the investigation progresses.
Further investigation revealed that Sharma had met the doctor two weeks prior. Besides his work as a nutritionist, Sharma also supplied health and wellness products. He had visited the doctor’s home on Wednesday to discuss a diet subscription plan.
Police reports suggest that during the visit, the doctor allegedly acted inappropriately, leading Sharma to attack him. It was found that Sharma used a knife and scissors from the doctor's kitchen to commit the murder.
Authorities reviewed the doctor’s call records and found that his last phone call had been with Sharma. This, along with CCTV evidence, enabled police to quickly track and arrest the suspect.
Officials stated that the victim was originally from Odisha and lived alone in his Delhi residence. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the crime and are working to verify the suspect’s claims. The full circumstances surrounding the murder are still being determined.
