9-Year-Old Receives Lifesaving Open-Heart Surgery Thanks to Sebaashray

A nine-year-old boy, Altaf Hosen Ghorami, diagnosed with a serious heart condition during a Sebaashray camp in Diamond Harbour, is preparing to undergo a 12-hour open-heart surgery tomorrow at the Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences. Medical professionals discovered that Altaf suffers from cyanotic heart disease, a condition characterized by a hole in his heart, which has caused significant health issues over the years.

The case was brought to the attention of Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress MP from Diamond Harbour and the party's national general secretary. Mr. Banerjee assured Altaf’s family that all necessary measures would be taken to provide treatment. He personally consulted with doctors regarding the surgery and ensured that the family would not face any financial burden for the procedure.

At the same time, the Sebaashray initiative in Falta has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the local community. The area is hosting 40 camps, which have already served 14,120 individuals, with 14,941 patients receiving essential medications. In total, more than 3.5 lakh people have benefited from these healthcare camps, and 15 patients have been referred for specialized treatment.

The program is designed to run for 10 days in each Assembly constituency, covering a span of 70 days. Once this phase concludes, follow-up camps will be organized over five days, resulting in the establishment of 280 additional camps to provide extended medical support to those in need.

In Falta, all students from Ghoshpur Primary School have received free medical check-ups through the Sebaashray initiative. Highlighting the program's success, Abhishek Banerjee shared an update on his X (formerly Twitter) account:

“Following its remarkable launch in Diamond Harbour, #Sebaashray is now creating a significant impact in Falta. In just 16 days, the initiative has enhanced healthcare access for 3,55,660 people. On Day 6 in Falta AC, 14,120 people benefitted from our camps, receiving timely care, free medicines, diagnostic tests, and referral services. The journey has just begun. Let’s keep this momentum going!”
