A shocking incident has surfaced as a 14-year-old boy took an ambulance for a spin in Thrissur on December 12. The teenager also drove it around the city for a dangerous distance of five kilometers.

The boy had been admitted to the Thrissur district hospital for the last three days. He had been suffering from fever and low blood counts.

Looking for an Early Sign of LATE

The sheer audacity of the incident has left the hospital authorities in a state of disbelief. They claimed that the ambulance driver had left the key inside the ambulance. The boy allegedly took the ambulance for a ride around the city.

Hospital superintendent Thaj Paul claimed that the boy was sleeping in the hospital ward with his mother. However, he went missing. The boy noticed that the ambulance driver had left the keys inside the vehicle while he had gone to the restroom. The boy then entered the ambulance and nonchalantly drove it for up to 5 kilometers. Reportedly, the locals found something suspicious when the vehicle stopped at a junction, after which they informed the police.

The Kerala State Medical Service Corporation used its online services to locate the ambulance. They realized that the ambulance was without a mandate and the police traced the vehicle.

The boy was safely handed to his parents. A case has been registered, and the driver of the ambulance has been held accountable for explaining the incident.

It was miraculous that no one was hurt. The boy was also showing symptoms of a psychic disorder. He was referred to a psychiatrist on December 13 for further management.
