In yet another heart-wrenching story from the Ahmedabad crash, three friends lost their lives while having lunch in the mess, unaware it would be their last meal.

A Meal That Turned Into Their Last Goodbye

Among those who lost their lives in the Ahmedabad plane crash were three BJ Medical College students: two first-year Aryan Rajput and Manav Bhadoo, and a second-year student, Jay Prakash Chaudhary. The three were in the mess having lunch together when the incident occurred.

Aryan, a resident of Jigsoli village near Gwalior, had scored 695 marks in NEET 2024, without the help of any coaching. His story stood out for this reason.

Manav was from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, and was also a first-year student. Jay, from Bori Charan village in Rajasthan, was in his second year. They all had entered college through the All India quota and quickly bonded as friends after joining.

Their hostel was about 500 meters away from the mess. While they were eating lunch, the crash unfolded. Many were trapped, while others managed to escape.

His brother-in-law, Alpesh Chauhan, told The Times of India, “He was with us. He hadn’t brought any reading material along. Since his books were in the hostel and his exams were to begin on June 16, he left my house on Wednesday. As soon as I heard about the airplane crash, I began calling him, but my calls went unanswered.”

Official Confirmation From the College

The Junior Doctors’ Association of BJ Medical College issued a statement on Saturday confirming that four MBBS students were killed in the crash while having lunch.

They added that 20 other MBBS students were injured, of whom 11 have been discharged.

According to the association, four family members of super-specialty doctors also lost their lives.

JDA-BJMC said in a press note:

“In reference to the recent plane crash incident, JDA-BJMC clarifies that a total of four MBBS students from the college who were having lunch in the mess building have sadly passed away.”

What This Tragedy Left Behind

Although the state government hasn’t released the official death toll yet, reports suggest that around 33 people were affected in the crash. This includes not just MBBS students, but also family members of resident doctors, tea vendors, and regular visitors to the area near Civil Hospital, all of whom happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

While official investigations are still underway, stories like these underline just how devastating this tragedy has been, not just for families but for the entire student community.
