A disgusting case of superstition has surfaced from Pune as a woman was forced to eat powdered human bones to conceive a child.
The inhumane acts were forced upon her by her husband and in-laws. According to reports, she was forcefully taken to a crematorium to eat the powdered bones of a dead human on Amavasya (no-moon) nights.
She was also made to eat chicken heads, legs, and ash from a pyre. The acts were recommended by a local Tantrik. Allegedly, she was forced to do this at a gunpoint.
The horrifying incident came to light after the woman filed a First Information Report (FIR) on January 18. A case has been registered against seven individuals at the Sinhagad Police Station. The individuals include her husband, in-laws, and the Tantrik.
Pune City Deputy Commissioner said that a case has been lodged under Sections 498A, 504, 506, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Section 3 of the anti-superstition act.
The superstitious rituals belong to an ideology called 'Aghori.' The woman was forced to take instructions from the Tantrik on a video call while performing these acts. She was also forced to sit under waterfalls on various no-moon nights.
The woman had also complained to her in-laws back in 2019. She was allegedly asked for a dowry of gold and silver jewelry plus cash during her marriage.
The in-laws are absconding, and a police investigation is underway. Police have also started an investigation to find crematoriums where such acts are carried out.
