Two unidentified men at Codissia Ground near SITRA robbed Rs. 70,000 from a doctor working at a private hospital in Coimbatore. This shocking incident occurred on Friday.
As per police, the doctor was held captive under the weapon and was forced to withdraw Rs 50,000 with his debit card from an ATM and make an online transfer of Rs 20,000 to them.
On receiving a complaint from the doctor, the police formed a special team to nab the robbers in connection with the case.
The incident occurred when the doctor, who is a resident of Masakkalipalayam, went for a walk near Codissia around 9 p.m. after finishing his work. Two men on a motorcycle waylaid him when he was about to leave on his scooter. They threatened the doctor with a sickle and demanded money.
Although the doctor said that he had no money in that situation, the robbers allegedly made him transfer Rs. 20,000 from his e-wallet, took him to his residence on their bike, and made him withdraw Rs. 50,000 from an ATM with his debit card.
After robbing the doctor of the money around 1.50 a.m. on Saturday, they dropped him off at Peelamedu Bridge.
Following this, the doctor reached out to the police and filed a case against the two accused under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).The probe into the matter is in progress.
