A shocking incident came to light in Bihar’s Nalanda district: five people, including four medical practitioners, were booked for allegedly demanding sexual favors from students in exchange for better grades in practical examinations. The Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences, Pawapuri, in Nalanda district of Bihar finds itself entangled in a controversy as an FIR has been lodged against four doctors and a clerk. The allegations have provoked a probe, with authorities taking action to address the issue.

The complaint lodged by a student has shed light on dreadful occurrences where students were forced into returning to the college premises after their practicals and viva exams. The exam was held between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Narrating the heart-wrenching experience, the complainant disclosed a painful sequence of events.

The complainant stated that they were told on the phone that they would face the risk of failing the viva test if they didn't adhere to the demands. While reaching the college, girls were allowed to enter one by one, while boys were kept waiting outside the main gate.

The complaint mentioned that a head of the department allegedly asked the victim what he would get in return if she was made topper. The complainant also mentioned that the victim was later directed to another room. In that room, there were two doctors. One of them allegedly tried to kiss her. At least three more female students imitated similar encounters with the doctors at the institution, reinforcing a disturbing pattern of misconduct.

Anita Kumari, who is overseeing the Pawapuri police outpost, acknowledged the severity of the matter. She described that multiple girls came forward to report instances of misconduct by the doctors during the practical and viva tests that were held on December 6. Legal action has been started against four doctors and other implicated individuals. Subsequently, the Nalanda women's police station has assumed responsibility for the case to ensure a comprehensive and impartial inquiry.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, who is the principal, recognized the intensity and seriousness of the accusations. According to the reports, he also mentioned that, following standard procedures, a committee has been formed by the Nalanda District Magistrate. This committee will conduct a thorough probe into this matter. This committee will communicate with the impacted female students and the accused doctors for a detailed inquiry.
