A disgusting and inhumane incident has surfaced in the Porbandar district in Gujarat. A quack allegedly branded a two-month-old infant girl with a hot iron rod to treat her cough and cold on February 9.

According to reports, the infant girl was suffering from a cough and a cold. The parents tried some home remedies for the same. However, after no relief, the mother of the infant took her to a local practitioner Devrajbhai Katara.

Katara subjected the infant to hot iron rid on the chest and stomach. Expectedly, it made the situation worst. The parents took the infant to Bhavsinhji General Hospital in Porbandar, where the infant child was found with burns and breathing complications.

The infant's father filed an FIR against the quack and the infant's mother under the IPC Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by means of any instrument likely to cause death). The quack was arrested on February 12.

The infant girl has been admitted to the ICU section. She is under observation, and her health has been stable.
