A 40-year-old woman from Vadodara has lodged a complaint with the police alleging repeated sexual assault by her father-in-law and her sister-in-law’s husband. According to the FIR, the assaults took place between July 2024 and December 2024 at her in-laws’ residence.

The woman married in February 2024 and began living with her husband’s family. She stated that soon after the marriage, her in-laws expressed concerns about her ability to conceive because of her age and suggested fertility treatment. Medical tests reportedly showed that her husband’s sperm count was very low, after which doctors advised in vitro fertilization (IVF). She underwent IVF, but the attempt failed. When she suggested adoption, her in-laws allegedly rejected the proposal.

According to her statement, in July 2024, her father-in-law entered her room while she was asleep and raped her. When she resisted, he allegedly assaulted her physically. She informed her husband, but he reportedly told her not to disclose the incident and threatened to share intimate photographs of her if she spoke to anyone.

The woman claimed that the sexual assaults by her father-in-law continued over the following months. In December 2024, her sister-in-law’s husband allegedly began sexually assaulting her repeatedly.

In June 2025, she conceived but miscarried the next month. After the miscarriage, she approached the police in the last week of July 2025. Based on her complaint, the Navapura police registered a case under charges including rape, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation.

Investigators are currently recording statements and collecting evidences. Authorities have stated that the case will proceed according to legal procedures.

The case is currently under legal examination, and further action will follow as the investigation progresses.
