The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, under the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India, and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine of the Ministry of Public Health of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of an academic collaboration in Ayurveda and Thai Traditional.
The MoU was formalized on Tuesday at the 10th India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting held at Hyderabad House, New Delhi.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Shri B.K. Singh, and the Director General of, Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Thailand, Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, signed the MoU in the presence of other dignitaries during the event.
The initiative has been taken to promote, facilitate, and develop academic collaboration in the fields of Ayurveda and Thai traditional medicine based on equality and mutual advantage among the participants. This MoU will aid in the exchange of experts for research and training programs, academic and technical activities, conducting research, and the exchange of information, technologies, and best practices in traditional medicine.
The participants will take the necessary steps to encourage and promote cooperation in facilitating academic and technical activities and conducting research for mutual advantage. The MoU will aid the exchange and accommodate experts, teaching instructors, practitioners, and students for research and training programs. It will also aid in exchanging knowledge, experiences, information, technologies, and best practices. Additionally, it will provide scholarships for education.
The MoU will promote the participation of experts in conferences, workshops, seminars, and events held by both participants and other important areas of cooperation with the mutual consent of the participants.
In its statement, the AYUSH Ministry mentioned that while implementing this MOU, the participants will support each other with mutual cooperation and collaborative activities based on equality and mutual benefits within their capacities by facilitating training courses in Thailand and India.
They will not only conduct collaborative research studies on diseases of common interest to both participants but also conduct visits and exchanges between policymakers, academics, experts, researchers, practitioners, and students.
The release also added that the NIA and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Thailand, will share information on regulatory mechanisms, best practices, guidelines of practice, and courses of study and training. Both participants will organize conferences and meetings alternately in India and Thailand to review the progress of the execution of the MOU and evaluate the results of collaborative programs.
