The GVK Enterprise’s Emergency Management Research Institute Green Health Services (EMRI-GHS), a pioneer in emergency management services in India, intends to execute the Jivadhuta Initiative. It is a school first-aid training initiative to be implemented in 100 government schools in Telangana state.
A representative from EMRI said that the Jivadhuta initiative covers the necessary skills such as CPR, handling choking and fainting incidents, managing snake bites, and stopping bleeding. The training empowers students with practical experiential learning and also says that through role-play exercises, the students gain knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage emergencies until advanced help arrives, thus reinforcing the societal chain of survival.
The Jivadhuta training programme was introduced on the occasion of Basanth Panchami on February 15 at Maheshwaram Mandal Headquarters Government School. Around 500 students, teachers, parents, and primary healthcare workers took part in this programme, indicating the success of the programme in imparting knowledge about safety in emergency healthcare.
The Jivadhuta programme as part of EMRI-GHS’s Corporate Responsibility Initiatives (CSR) is assured to affect one lakh students and community members. It is aligned with the National Educational Policy 2020 and its priority on life skills training. Through this initiative, each school library will acquire an emergency care manual, a first aid box, and informative posters on emergency services such as 108,1962 and dial 100.
If this initiative is successful, the model will be recited across multiple states of India, commemorating a notable effort in the organization’s mission of value creation and nation-building.
The EMRI representative further said that the specialized department, the Emergency Medicine Learning Center (EMLC) at EMRI-GHS, has played a pivotal role in designing and implementing the Jivadhuta training initiative. Additionally, the Vandemataram Foundation has been instrumental in coordinating with 100 government schools and finalizing schedules for this impactful programme.
