A 30-year-old Nepali man was taken into custody in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra, for severely abusing his 28-year-old spouse. The assault, which occurred on May 11, involved the accused piercing her private parts with iron nails and attaching a brass lock, reportedly due to suspicions of her having an extramarital affair.

The police reported that the man, who works as a watchman, attacked his wife after suspecting her of cheating. During the assault, he tied her hands and feet with a cloak before using a sharp blade to cut two holes in her private parts. He then inserted iron nails into the wounds and put a brass lock on them. The woman, who is a homemaker, screamed for help in pain, bleeding on the floor.

Neighbors who heard her cries for help rushed her to the hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries. Despite her severe condition, she managed to file a complaint against her husband at the police station.

The police have registered a case against the man under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include Section 326 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, Section 506(2) for criminal intimidation, and Section 323 for punishment for voluntarily causing hurt. The police have condemned the brutal act and assured that strict action will be taken against the accused.

On the day of the incident, the woman was subjected to a horrifying experience that left her with severe physical and emotional trauma. Medical professionals acted quickly to remove the lock and nails from her body, performing surgery to alleviate her suffering. Her condition is stable, and she continues to receive medical care.

This incident has highlighted severe issues of domestic violence and the extreme measures some individuals might take due to suspicion and jealousy. The brutality of the act has sparked outrage and calls for stringent measures to protect victims of domestic abuse.

Relatedly, this incident reminds us of another situation that occurred in Haryana last month, where a man attacked his wife with a baseball bat over a suspected extramarital affair. This assault, captured on video, showed the man smashing a car window, dragging his wife out, and beating her with a bat after discovering her with another man. The video circulated widely on social media, drawing widespread condemnation and calls for justice.

Domestic violence cases often involve severe psychological and physical harm, and the legal system's response to such acts is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the victims. The police in Pimpri-Chinchwad have taken steps to address this case immediately, arresting the accused and registering a case under appropriate legal sections.
