Nanded district in Maharashtra has made history by becoming the first in the state to launch infertility treatment centers in every government hospital. The district health department has collaborated with experts in the field to establish these centers, which will offer a range of treatments, including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The centers will also provide counseling services to couples dealing with infertility-related stress and anxiety.

As the initiative progresses, it offers hope to countless couples longing to start a family, proving that timely intervention and proper medical care can make a significant difference. We will hold a training camp in the first week of January, following which the services will start across the district.

We are training our existing health staffers for reorientation and imparting training for counselling of couples as well as basic investigations to ascertain the cause of infertility. Once it is clear that a couple requires specialized treatment, they are sent to centers at the district level with advanced facilities.

According to reports, the initiative has been well-received by the local community, with many couples expressing gratitude for the affordable and convenient access to fertility treatment. The district health department plans to expand the services offered at these centers, including the provision of donor sperm and eggs.

Infertility affects an estimated 10-15% of married couples in the country, with many struggling to access affordable and effective treatment.

In many cases, couples are unaware from where they can seek help, and this issue is exacerbated in rural areas due to limited awareness and absence of fertility-related medical facilities.

Several private fertility clinics, such as Indira IVF and Sunanda IVF, have also established themselves in Nanded, offering a range of fertility treatments and services. These clinics have reported high success rates in Nanded and have become popular options for couples seeking fertility treatment.
