Securing a seat in a top medical college is a goal shared by countless students across the country. As a gateway to achieving that dream, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET UG 2025 exam. Scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2025, this year's exam introduces stricter rules to ensure a fair and secure process for all participants.

Among the key updates: face recognition technology and mandatory Aadhaar verification will now be part of the exam-day procedure. Students must ensure their personal identification, especially their Aadhaar card, matches the information submitted in their application. A small mismatch can lead to disqualification.

Key Highlights: NEET UG 2025

This year’s NEET UG is not just an exam—it’s a highly monitored event aimed at curbing impersonation and malpractice. Here's what you can expect and what you need to do to prepare:

Aadhaar Verification Is Crucial:

Your Aadhaar card isn't just a formality—it’s a core requirement for both registration and identity confirmation at the test center. The NTA has made it clear: if the details on your Aadhaar card (like your name, birthdate, or address) don’t align with what you’ve filled in the application form, you may not be allowed to sit for the test.

Students should double-check and correct any discrepancies in advance. Aadhaar can be updated online through the UIDAI portal or by visiting an enrollment center.

Identity Checks at the Gate: Be Exam-Ready

On exam day, all candidates must present a valid and updated Aadhaar card. This is not optional. Verification will be performed at the center by comparing your Aadhaar information with your NEET registration information. Failure to match will result in immediate denial of entry.

Additionally, this year will see the implementation of facial recognition for the first time. Students' identities will be verified precisely and impersonation will be eliminated with this technology.

Why Face Recognition Is Being Introduced?

The decision to use face recognition stems from past cases of cheating. For example, earlier this year in Purnia, Bihar, the CBI uncovered a fraud case involving impersonators appearing on behalf of real candidates. To prevent such incidents, the NTA is using biometric checks to validate every student.

If your face scan doesn’t match the one used during registration, you might be turned away from the exam hall—so make sure you follow all the official guidelines when registering.

Steps to Avoid Aadhaar-Related Issues:

To make sure you’re fully prepared and don’t run into last-minute issues, follow these tips:

  • Verify your Aadhaar details early—check your name, birthdate, and other information carefully.

  • Update information if needed through the UIDAI website or your nearest Aadhaar center.

  • Cross-check your NEET UG application thoroughly before submission.

  • Bring the correct documents on the day of the exam—this includes your original Aadhaar card and printed NEET admit card.

Advanced Surveillance at Test Centers:

In a move to ensure maximum transparency, CCTV surveillance will be in place at all NEET UG 2025 examination centers. Every student will be monitored to maintain discipline and discourage any unethical behavior during the exam. The entire exam environment will be under constant watch to protect the integrity of the process.

Exam Center Details & Admit Card Timeline:

NEET applicants will be able to download their exam city slip from their application number and birth date on the official website starting April 26. The admit card can be downloaded from May 1, 2025—three days prior to the exam.

This year, NEET UG will be conducted in more than 105 centers in 35 cities of Bihar itself, and numerous other places around the country. The students are advised to verify their exam center information in advance and arrange their travel accordingly.

Government Buildings Preferred as Exam Venues:

Earlier, NEET tests used to take place in private institutions, such as CBSE-affiliated ones. But considering many cases of papers being leaked recently, now NTA has insisted that the testing centers can be only those run by government premises. Those spots will also have improved surveillance techniques and heightened watch to eliminate possibilities of any form of malpractice further.
