At a ceremony in New Delhi on Friday, President Droupadi Murmu presented the honorary Excellence Award to renowned urologist Dr. GG Lakshmana Prabhu. The prestigious honor was received by Kavita Prabhu, the wife of the late Dr. Lakshmana Prabhu, who was presented with a gold medal and certificate as the President's Award of Merit.
Dr. Prabhu dedicated three decades to the practice of urology in Mangaluru, where he became synonymous with both urology and nephrology. His insightful observations and published papers accumulated international attention, establishing his position as a leading figure in the field.
His contributions to the medical world, particularly in the qualitative and quantitative advancement of the health sector, are immense. President Murmu emphasized the medical community's responsibility for growing medical tourism and nurturing a healthy society.

During its 22nd convocation ceremony, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) presented the President's Award of Honor to the late Dr. G.G. Laxman Prabhu. Kavita Prabhu received the prestigious award in recognition of her husband's outstanding contributions to the field of urology.
Dr. Prabhu demonstrated his expertise as the head of the urology surgery department at KMC Mangaluru by handling several difficult medical cases. His position as Secretary of the Urological Society of India further strengthened his position as a leading authority in the field.
