Haryana police have begun investigating the mysterious death of Bhawna Yadav, a 24-year-old doctor who succumbed to severe burns and stab injuries at SMS Hospital in Jaipur on April 24. Born and brought up in Anantpura village adjacent to Behror, Bhawna had recently returned from the Philippines after completing her medical education. She was preparing for her post-graduate entrance exams in Rajasthan.
Bhawna was to appear for a mock medical test in Delhi on April 21. She was set to return after the test but never did. The family's concern grew as they were unable to contact her. Tragically, she was found in Hisar, Haryana, with stab wounds and multiple burn injuries. While she was initially taken to a small hospital in Hisar at the time of the incident, she was later transferred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where she succumbed a few days later.
Family members have blamed Udesh Yadav, a distant relative based in the Rewari district of Haryana, for conspiring in the attack. Udesh, a Hisar resident who had remained in close touch with Bhawna before the incident, has been absconding since it occurred. According to the family, Udesh had allegedly called Bhawna under the pretext of going to Hisar, where he attacked her with a sharp object and attempted to set her ablaze.
In fact, he had called Bhawna's mother the day after the attack, according to the family. After that, however, he went missing. His phone has remained switched off since April 21.
It was initially registered as a zero FIR at the SMS Hospital police station in Jaipur, but the case has now been transferred to the Civil Lines police station in Hisar for further in-depth investigation. Authorities are currently tracking Udesh and tracing Bhawna's last known movements.
The incident has left Bhawna's family and the surrounding community in shock. They are calling for a swift and fair investigation. Bhawna had just begun her career in medicine, and her untimely demise has sparked concerns about the safety of young women professionals in the region.
