Telangana State DCA (Drug Control Administration) officials seized popular homeopathic and Ayurvedic medicines for misleading advertisements. They seized one homeopathic and one Ayurvedic medicine on Sunday in varied parts of the state.

VB Kamalasan Reddy, DCA-Director General said that the officials of DCA noticed particular medicines dispersing in the market with misleading assertions on their labels, saying that they treat kidney stones and women’s health problems. Such misleading statements about the treatment of certain diseases and disorders violate the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, of 1954, and people who are making such misleading advertisements are punishable under the act with imprisonment which may extend to 6 months or with a fine or with both.

Drug inspectors, Shabad, and K Anvesh during a special operation executed on March 30 and 31, noticed a homeopathic medicine ‘Lord's Stonil Tablets’, manufactured by Haryana-based Lord's Homoeopathic Lab (P). The product label contains a misleading assertion stating that it treats Renal Calculi (Kidney Stones). DCA officials conducted raids at a medical shop in Shamshabad village, Ranga Reddy district, and seized the stocks of the medicines.

At Gandimaisamma, drug inspector M Hemalatha identified an Ayurvedic medicine ‘Hemapushpa Tonic’. The product contains a label claiming that it is a women’s health restorative tonic and it helps in treating anemia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, hot flushes of palm and soles, pelvic pain, loss of appetite, backache, crankiness, giddiness, weariness in women. The label also states that it aids in cleansing and the formation of new blood for glowing skin and beauty and it also helps to keep energetic and fit throughout the month. Raids were conducted at a medical store in Mallampet Village, Dundigal-Gandimaisamma Mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The Telangana state DCA officials underlined the significance of stringent implementation of laws to protect the health of the public and avert the circulation of false information concerning medical treatments. They also instructed consumers to be attentive and consult healthcare professionals before using any medicines to evade possible damage.
