The Texas Medical Board has suspended the medical license of Houston physician Dr. An Q. Van following his arrest in February 2026 on a charge of possession of child pornography, according to official records and board disclosures.
The suspension was ordered by a disciplinary panel and will remain in effect until further action is taken by the Board.
According to Harris County court records, Dr. Van is accused of possessing more than 50 visual materials related to child pornography.
Authorities confirmed that he was taken into custody in February and later released after posting an $80,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for late April 2026.
The Texas Medical Board stated that the suspension was issued after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case. The Board acted out of concern for public safety, implementing a temporary restriction while legal proceedings continue.
The suspension will stay in place pending further disciplinary review.
Under Texas law, authorities treat child pornography as a serious criminal offense. The law prohibits individuals from knowingly possessing, accessing, promoting, or transmitting any visual material that depicts a minor under the age of 18 engaged in sexual conduct. Even digital storage or access to such content can lead to charges under Texas Penal Code § 43.26, reflecting the state’s strict stance against the exploitation of children.
Officials noted that a temporary suspension hearing will be conducted unless Dr. Van chooses to waive it.
The outcome of this hearing will help determine whether the suspension should continue or if additional disciplinary measures will be imposed.
