The university was established on July 18, 1946, making it one of the oldest universities in Madhya Pradesh. It was founded by Dr. Sir Hari Singh Gour, who invested his own lifetime savings to create it, which is a unique fact. In February 1983, the university was renamed Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya. On January 15, 2009, it was designated as a central university. The institution offers a range of multidisciplinary academic programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Various academic departments are particularly effective in providing quality education and fostering student learning.
What are some random useful and interesting fun facts about the Institute? Share your opinions or those of others about the university.
The campus is quite large, offering a spacious environment for students. It features department-specific buildings and a large central library. The university provides hostel facilities for both male and female students. I am pursuing Master's in Biotechnology here. The university offers excellent opportunities for research projects. The laboratories are well-equipped with the latest technologies, which helps students gain hands-on experience. The professors and lab assistants are fantastic; they are always available to help us troubleshoot and make the most of the resources at our disposal. While upgrades to the facilities would be beneficial, the current setup effectively fosters a strong understanding of practical applications and problem-solving skills.
