Milpitas Police Act Swiftly After Patient Reports Inappropriate Touching by Pulmonologist

MBT Desk

Milpitas police detectives arrested Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, a 68-year-old Indian-origin pulmonologist, on September 24, 2025, after investigating reports of inappropriate touching during a patient consultation. Authorities now encourage anyone who may have experienced similar incidents to come forward and assist the ongoing probe.

Swift Investigation Leads to Arrest

A female patient reported the incident to the Milpitas Police Department on September 16, 2025, alleging that Dr. Agarwal touched her inappropriately while she sought medical advice. Detectives quickly launched an inquiry, confirming the details through evidence and witness statements. They apprehended the San Jose resident at his Milpitas office that same week, booking him into Santa Clara County Main Jail on sexual battery charges.

Dr. Agarwal, who specializes in pulmonary medicine and operates at a local sleep center of Milpitas, also maintains affiliations with Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. Officials emphasize that the arrest stems from this specific allegation, but they suspect additional cases may exist.

Police Seek Community Input

Milpitas Police actively solicit tips from the public to build a comprehensive case.

"We urge anyone with knowledge of this matter or who believes they suffered at Dr. Agarwal's hands to contact us," the department stated in an official release.
