COLUMBUS, Ohio: Newly released U.S. Department of Justice records show that Dr. Mark B. Landon, chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, received tens of thousands of dollars in consulting payments from a firm connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein between 2001 and 2005.

The documents, made public in early February 2026 as part of a broader federal release of Epstein-related financial records, include emails, payment schedules and FedEx invoices referencing Landon by name.

According to the records, Epstein’s financial operation arranged quarterly payments of $30,000, scheduled for January, April, July and October. A January 4, 2006 email between Epstein and his longtime attorney Darren Indyke referenced a contract detailing structured annual compensation described as “75 per year.” The correspondence confirms regular, ongoing payments tied to consulting work.

Federal documents indicate the payments spanned approximately 2001 through 2005. While the records show recurring compensation and shipment invoices, they do not describe the contents of the mailed materials.

Key Points

  1. DOJ files (Feb 2026) show Dr. Mark B. Landon received consulting payments from a firm tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

  2. Quarterly $30,000 payments were scheduled between 2001 and 2005.

  3. A Jan. 4, 2006 email between Epstein and attorney Darren Indyke references structured annual compensation.

  4. Landon says he was a consultant only, provided no clinical care, and was unaware of criminal conduct.

  5. Ohio State confirmed the past arrangement and said no criminal allegations involve Landon.

DOJ Epstein Files Detail Consulting Arrangement

The newly disclosed materials include FedEx records dated between 2001 and 2004 listing Landon as a recipient. The invoices document shipments but do not specify what was sent.

The Justice Department files reference a consulting agreement connected to Epstein’s New York based financial operation. The reports do not indicate that Landon has been accused of criminal wrongdoing.

The disclosures surfaced as part of continued federal transparency efforts surrounding Epstein’s financial network. Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Dr. Mark Landon Denies Clinical Involvement With Epstein

Through statements provided to local media, Dr. Landon said he served as a paid consultant to a firm associated with Epstein but did not provide medical treatment to Epstein or any individuals connected to him.

Landon stated he had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal conduct at the time of the consulting work and said he finds Epstein’s actions reprehensible. He emphasized that his work was professional consulting and not related to patient care.

There is no indication in the released documents that Landon was involved in or aware of Epstein’s criminal activities.

Ohio State University Responds to Epstein Payment Records

In a statement, Ohio State University confirmed it is aware of the reports regarding Landon’s past consulting relationship. The university noted that the consulting arrangement occurred years ago and stated that Landon has not been accused of any criminal conduct in connection with the payments.

The university did not indicate that it plans disciplinary action based on the disclosed records.

Payments Raise Transparency and Oversight Questions

The revelations have prompted renewed scrutiny over outside consulting relationships held by academic medical leaders and how institutions monitor such financial arrangements.

While the documents show structured payments and formal communication, they do not allege illegal conduct by Landon. However, the association with Epstein’s financial network has sparked public discussion about ethical oversight in academic medicine.

The Justice Department release continues to generate national attention as additional names and financial ties emerge from Epstein related records.
