Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing has registered an FIR against Aditi Singh, wife of Fortis Healthcare co founder Shivinder Mohan Singh, following a complaint by her sister in law Japna Singh. The case involves allegations of forgery, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy related to the management of a charitable trust that controls a major Fortis hospital in the capital.

Police said the FIR was lodged after a detailed complaint from Japna Singh, wife of Malvinder Mohan Singh, the elder of the two Fortis founders. Investigators are examining alleged irregularities involving assets worth more than Rs 500 crore.

Allegations Linked to Charitable Trust

According to the complaint, the case centres on the Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Charitable Society, which runs the Fortis Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Hospital in Vasant Kunj. Japna Singh alleged that Aditi Singh, along with Shivinder Mohan Singh and other executive committee members, misused their authority within the society to remove legitimate members.

The complaint claimed that forged resignation letters and manipulated records were used to exclude certain members, including Japna Singh, from the trust. These actions allegedly allowed a small group to gain control over the society’s operations and assets.

Criminal Sections Invoked

The Economic Offences Wing registered the FIR under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. These include criminal breach of trust, forgery of valuable documents, forgery for the purpose of cheating, using forged documents as genuine, and criminal conspiracy. Police said the seriousness of the charges reflects the nature of the alleged financial and governance violations.

Forensic Audit Flagged Irregularities

A key part of the complaint relies on a forensic audit titled Project Prism, conducted by Pipara and Co LLP. The audit reportedly identified significant gaps and inconsistencies in the society’s records.

The findings pointed to missing minutes of annual general meetings, a six year gap in documented meetings between 2018 and 2024, and irregular appointments of office bearers. The audit also flagged conflicting disclosures regarding who held the position of treasurer during different periods.

Questions Over Meetings and Notices

The FIR further alleged procedural violations in how the society conducted its meetings. According to the complaint, an annual general meeting in May 2024 took place at a residential address rather than a suitable official venue.

The complainant also alleged that meeting notices were shown as delivered to members in multiple cities on the same day, raising doubts about whether proper communication procedures were followed.

Financial Stakes Under Scrutiny

The Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Charitable Society reportedly earns around Rs 30 crore annually from hospital operations. Along with this recurring income, the society controls valuable hospital infrastructure and property. Investigators are now examining whether funds or assets were misused through unauthorized decisions.

A key part of the complaint relies on a forensic audit titled Project Prism, conducted by Pipara and Co LLP.

Background of Ongoing Disputes

The case adds to a long running legal conflict involving the Singh family, particularly disputes between brothers Malvinder and Shivinder Mohan Singh over business control and financial management. Both have faced multiple legal proceedings in recent years linked to Fortis Healthcare and associated entities.

The Economic Offences Wing has begun a detailed investigation into the matter.
