AIIMS Deoghar Gets New Leadership: Dr. Nitin M. Gangane Appointed Executive Director & CEO

A seasoned academic and administrator steps in to strengthen AIIMS Deoghar’s role in regional healthcare.

AIIMS Deoghar has appointed Dr. Nitin M. Gangane as its new Executive Director & CEO, a move widely seen as significant for strengthening Jharkhand’s public healthcare system.

MedBound Times connected with Dr. Gangane to know about his journey into the field of medicine and academics.

Dr. Gangane brings decades of experience in medical education and healthcare administration. Born in the hospital attached to the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), Sevagram, he later studied and completed his postgraduate training there. He joined the institute as faculty in the Department of Pathology and rose to become Head of Department and eventually Dean.

He was awarded the highly regarded Yamagiwa Yoshida Memorial International Cancer Study Grant by the UICC, through which he worked at the International Agency for Research on Cancer under the World Health Organization in Lyon, France, and later at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, USA. He also received fellowships from the Association of Nordic Cancer Societies and the Indian Council of Medical Research.

Over the years, he has contributed significantly to scientific literature, with more than 180 national and international publications.

Before taking charge at AIIMS Deoghar, he served as Vice Chancellor at KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi. He says he is motivated by the challenge and responsibility of serving a region that urgently needs stronger healthcare infrastructure.
