RIMS Imphal assault in September 2025 mirrors rising violence against doctors across India

A similar incident was reported earlier at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, where violence broke out on September 21, 2025, after two patients died within 24 hours.

Angry relatives and locals allegedly assaulted a doctor and vandalized hospital property over claims of medical negligence, leaving the injured doctor hospitalized and forcing the suspension of services.

This incident, like the Ahmedabad case, highlights the growing risk faced by doctors while performing their duties, particularly in high-tension situations involving patient care and outcomes.
