Buldhana, Maharashtra (October 27, 2025): In a shocking incident that has left the local community stunned, a man identified as Rahul Chavan allegedly murdered his twin daughters, Pranali and Pratiksha (aged 2.5 years), in the Ancharwadi forest area of Buldhana district following a heated argument with his wife on Laxmi Pooja day, October 21.
According to police and media reports, Chavan was travelling with his wife and the two children when a dispute broke out in the vehicle between him and his wife. During the argument, his wife reportedly decided to leave for her parents’ home, while Chavan continued the journey alone with the girls.
Chavan then drove to a secluded forested area near Ancharwadi, where he allegedly slit the throats of his daughters around 1 p.m. using a sharp weapon. The children’s bodies were dumped in dense bushes about 20 metres from the roadside.
After committing the murders, Chavan returned to his native village, Rui, and did not reveal the crime to anyone for four days. On October 24, after reportedly telling this to some relatives, he was taken to the Asegaon Police Station, where he confessed before Police Inspector Ramkrishna Bhakde.
He was later transferred to the Andhera Police Station, since the forested area where the crime occurred falls under its jurisdiction.
Senior officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Manisha Kadam, done the on-site inspection. Forensic teams collected samples and documented evidence from the scene.
According to police sources, the bodies were in a decomposed state, and the post-mortem examination was conducted at the site itself, as per reports in Times of India.
The Andhera Police have registered a case and collected forensic samples for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police confirmed that Rahul Chavan has been arrested and charged with murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Authorities are now examining the sequence of events and the motive behind the crime.
“The accused has confessed to the killings. Further investigation is being conducted,” a police officer said.
