Several Residents Fall Ill After Drinking Tap Water in Greater Noida, Authorities Probe Supply

Residents report vomiting and diarrhea as authorities collect water samples and set up medical camps; contamination yet to be confirmed.

Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh – Several residents of Sector Delta 1 in Greater Noida reported falling ill after consuming tap water, prompting an official investigation into the local water supply. People complained of symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain and fever, leading to concerns over water quality in the area.

Health officials and civic authorities responded after residents raised complaints over the sudden onset of illness in multiple households.

Health Complaints Trigger Emergency Response

Residents said symptoms appeared over a short period, affecting both adults and children. Following the complaints, the health department, along with officials from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), visited the locality to assess the situation.

A medical camp was set up in the affected sector, where doctors examined residents and provided medicines, oral rehydration salts and basic treatment for gastrointestinal symptoms. Health officials advised residents to seek medical attention if symptoms persisted or worsened.

Water Samples Collected for Testing

GNIDA officials confirmed that water samples were collected from multiple points in Sector Delta 1 and sent for laboratory testing. Authorities stated that these tests were being conducted to determine whether any contamination was present in the drinking water supply.

Officials also inspected water pipelines and related infrastructure in the area as part of the preliminary assessment.

At present, no official test results confirming contamination have been released.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Water Quality

Residents expressed concern over the quality of tap water supplied to their homes and said the incident had caused anxiety in the neighborhood. Many households said they had stopped using tap water for drinking and cooking as a precaution.

Local residents urged authorities to ensure regular monitoring of the water supply and take preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Authorities Deny Confirmed Contamination

GNIDA officials stated that there is no confirmed evidence so far of sewage or other pollutants mixing with the drinking water supply. They said inspections were ongoing and that any technical issues found during checks would be addressed immediately.

Officials also appealed to residents to avoid panic and assured them that corrective action would be taken if test results revealed any problems with water quality.

Advisory Issued as Precaution

As a precautionary measure, residents were advised to boil water before consumption until the investigation is complete. Authorities also asked residents to report any further health issues or water-related problems to local officials without delay.
