The NEET PG 2025 Gujarat counselling process, managed locally by the Admission Committee for Professional Post Graduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPPGMEC) has concluded its second round of choice filling and seat allotment for MD, MS, and postgraduate diploma courses. Official data shows a significant number of seats are still vacant even after this phase of admissions.
The second round of choice filling was held from December 18 to 22, 2025 for the 2025–26 academic year.
Among 2,608 total seats across government and self-financed medical colleges in Gujarat for these programs, 1,502 seats were filled in the second round, including 951 fresh admissions and 551 transfer admissions (where candidates moved from previously allotted seats).
After the second round of allotments, 357 seats remained vacant due to non-conversion and non-allocation.
This vacancy figure excludes seats already filled in Round 1; candidates on the official merit list who participated in Round 2 totalled 3,986 out of 4,895 eligible aspirants.
Prior to the second round of allotment, the ACPPGMEC released the list of seats cancelled after the first round of counselling. A total of 147 postgraduate seats, including MD, MS, and diploma seats across government, management quota, in-service, and NRI quota categories, were cancelled and made available again for subsequent rounds due to non-joining or withdrawal by candidates.
Cancelled seats span multiple clinical and non-clinical disciplines and were re-offered in Round 2 choice filling to expand opportunities for eligible candidates.
Candidates who have been allotted seats in either Round 1 or Round 2 are required to:

Complete document verification at designated help centres no later than December 30, 2025.
Failure to complete reporting within the deadline could lead to forfeiture of the admission opportunity and security deposit, and those seats would be added to future rounds or stray/vacancy rounds of counselling.
In the NEET PG counselling system, multiple rounds, typically three or more are conducted to progressively fill vacant seats. After each round, seats not allotted or not joined by candidates become available again for subsequent rounds. The counselling involves merit-based allotment where candidates select their preferred colleges and specialties in order of preference. After each round, upward movement, transfers, and vacancies are common, and final rounds aim to reduce the number of unfilled seats before stray vacancy rounds begin.
The presence of 357 vacant seats after two rounds suggests that additional counselling opportunities, such as a third round or vacancy/stray rounds, may be required to ensure full utilization of MD, MS, and diploma seats for the academic year. Candidates who have not yet been allotted seats may participate in further rounds subject to eligibility and counselling rules set by the ACPPGMEC and the National Medical Commission (NMC).
