Ghaziabad – Police in Uttar Pradesh arrested a man for allegedly harassing and physically assaulting his wife, pressuring her to achieve a physique resembling Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi. The Ghaziabad Police booked the accused after his wife filed a formal complaint detailing a pattern of abuse and harassment.
The victim, a resident of Indirapuram, told authorities that her husband, identified as Sandeep Kumar, became obsessed with the actress's physical appearance and demanded she undergo a rigorous fitness regimen. The woman alleges her husband forced her to work out for up to three hours daily at a local gym, criticizing her if she failed to meet his expectations.
According to the complaint, Kumar's obsession escalated over time, leading to verbal and physical abuse. She alleged that he not only assaulted her but also subjected her to starvation diets and constant comparisons with the actress. The woman reported that her husband assaulted her during an argument, causing her to fall and suffer an injury that tragically led to a miscarriage. Her complaint states that he refused to take her to a doctor and continued his abusive behavior.
The woman further alleged that her husband pressured her to undergo cosmetic treatments to resemble Nora Fatehi. When she resisted, he resorted to beatings and threats.
The woman's family intervened after she confided in them about the ongoing abuse. Her father and brother helped her file the complaint at the Indirapuram Police Station. Authorities acted swiftly, registering a case against Kumar under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to domestic violence and causing a miscarriage. The arrest highlights the serious issue of domestic abuse and the dangers of extreme and unrealistic expectations placed on partners.
Police officials confirmed that Sandeep Kumar was arrested and is currently in judicial custody. They also stated that investigations are underway to verify if other individuals were involved in threatening or intimidating the victim.
The case gained significant attention on social media and in news outlets, bringing awareness to the psychological and physical harm of such coercive behavior.
The Ghaziabad Police are continuing their investigation into the matter, with the accused now in custody awaiting legal proceedings.
