Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, inaugurated a new 50-bed sub-divisional hospital in Dhuri, aimed at strengthening public healthcare infrastructure in the region.
The facility is expected to improve access to essential medical services for residents of Dhuri and nearby areas in Sangrur district.
The newly inaugurated hospital includes:
50 inpatient beds
30-bedded maternal and child health block
Basic and emergency medical services
Outpatient care facilities
Infrastructure to support maternal and general healthcare services
According to reports, the hospital is designed to reduce patient load on larger tertiary care centers and provide timely treatment at the local level.
During the inauguration, Bhagwant Mann highlighted the importance of strengthening government healthcare systems to ensure accessible and affordable treatment.
The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Punjab government to:
Improve rural and semi-urban healthcare infrastructure
Reduce dependence on private healthcare
Enhance availability of essential medical services closer to communities

The hospital infrastructure has been designed to support a wide range of clinical services, including 13 outpatient department (OPD) rooms, a fully equipped emergency unit, and multiple operation theatres for both major and minor surgical procedures.
In addition, the facility includes diagnostic units such as ECG, ultrasound, and X-ray rooms, along with three laboratories to enable timely and accurate investigations. These integrated services are expected to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcomes for patients in the region.
The adjoining 30-bedded maternal and child health block is aimed at strengthening care for women and newborns, offering both normal and cesarean delivery services under the supervision of trained gynecologists. According to officials, the hospital will also provide access to specialist consultations, including ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care, along with advanced procedures such as knee replacement surgeries. The expansion is part of broader efforts to enhance secondary-level healthcare capacity and improve service delivery across Dhuri and surrounding rural areas.
