A 22-year-old pregnant woman died after allegedly receiving wrong medication and an injection at an illegal clinic in Narai village under Phulpur police station limits of Prayagraj on Wednesday evening. Police have registered a named FIR against four accused, detained one person, and launched a search for the remaining suspects.

FIR Filed Against ASHA Worker and Family Members

Authorities identified the deceased as Angura, daughter of Sanjay Kumar Bind alias Barfi Lal, a resident of Aata village in the Phulpur Kotwali area. She had been married to Rajaram Bind of Lalitpur village in Jhansi for about two years. Angura had an eight-month-old daughter and was three months pregnant at the time of death.

According to police, an FIR has been registered against:

  • ASHA worker Meera Patel

  • Her husband Sukhdev Patel

  • Daughter Deepshikha

  • Son-in-law Subhash Chandra Patel

Police have detained Subhash Chandra Patel and are interrogating him, while the search for the other three accused is ongoing.

Allegation of Wrong Medication and Injection

Family members told police that Angura went to Meera Patel’s clinic on Wednesday at the ASHA worker’s request for treatment. The clinic had allegedly been operating in Narai village for several years without authorization.

Relatives alleged Angura died after she was administered incorrect medication and an injection during treatment.

The family refused to allow removal of the body for nearly 18 hours and demanded registration of a case and arrest of the accused.

Accused Allegedly Tried to Flee With Body

After the woman’s death, Meera Patel, Sukhdev Patel, and Deepshikha allegedly fled the clinic. Police said Subhash Chandra Patel attempted to escape with the body in a car.

Villagers and family members chased the vehicle and caught it near Sahason. They brought the body back to the village and created a commotion, demanding legal action.

Family Protested for 18 Hours Before FIR

The family refused to allow removal of the body for nearly 18 hours and demanded registration of a case and arrest of the accused. Police remained at the spot overnight attempting to calm the situation.

On Thursday afternoon, ACP Phulpur Vivek Yadav reached the location and pacified the crowd. After a named FIR was filed against four people, authorities sent the body for postmortem examination.

Cause of Death Awaiting Postmortem

Police stated that further action will depend on the autopsy findings.

“The cause of death will be clear after the postmortem report is received,” ACP Vivek Yadav said.

Investigators continue to search for the remaining accused while questioning the detained suspect.
