My internship with MedBound Times provided a good introduction to medical journalism and healthcare writing. It helped me understand the basics of heathcare content and how it works. I worked on researching and writing articles on various medical and public health topics, which helped improve my research skills and ability to simplify complex information. This is the basics of any kind of medical writing.
The internship also emphasised on the importance of not just writing but also being visible on the net. SEO has been a major learning in the process, teaching you that ranking on the first page of google is equally as important as writing your content. Learning about the Content Management Systems or CMS also helped in understanding how the content workflow is done.
The internship is mostly self-paced and independent, so it requires good time management and initiative from the interns. While there is flexibility, the learning experience largely depends on how actively you engage with the tasks.
The online classes were very interactive with all doubts being cleared individually. This gives a sense of being guided and tutored irrespective of the number of queries one has. The class timings are usually in the evenings catering to the time availability of working interns as well.
The editorial team was supportive and provided constructive feedback on submissions, which helped me improve my writing and research skills. The internship also gave me insight into how digital health journalism platforms operate, including content planning and publishing workflows.
I got the chance to create my very own Author Profile under which I was able to publish my article as well. This gave a great credibility in building my portfolio as well.
Overall, it is a wonderful experience for heathcare professionals interested in medical writing, healthcare communication, or building a portfolio of published articles. It gives you a foundation to build your future career. Happy to have been a part of this journey with MedBound Times.
