MBT Desk

Raigad: The local authorities revealed on Wednesday that, in response to a recent fire that tragically claimed the lives of 11 laborers at Blue Jet Healthcare's factory in Maharashtra's Raigad district, the pharmaceutical company has been directed to halt production and remove inflammable chemical products from its premises.

The Raigad unit of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) recommended that the district administration take action against it.

On November 3, at the company's plant in the Mahad MIDC area, eleven workers were killed and seven others injured after a fire broke out.

As per the notice issued by Deputy Collector (Mahad) J. S. Hajare, the company has been mandated to halt production and evacuate flammable chemical materials from its premises within a timeframe of 72 hours.

In another case, as part of a distinct measure, the Deputy Collector has directed two companies, Sanika Chemical and VN Creative, to cease their production operations due to their contribution to water pollution, which resulted in significant fish mortality within a drain.

On November 9, in the Mahad MIDC area, thousands of fish were found dead in the drain in Temghar.

A notice released by Deputy Collector Hajare stated that following an investigation conducted by the pollution control board at the site, it was determined that the demise of the fish was attributed to two industrial entities, Sanika Chemical and VN Creative.
