A senior resident doctor of the department of anesthesiology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur has been dismissed from his duties. Additionally, he has been booked for allegedly molesting a female OT technician.

The incident was revealed when the female technician complained about the matter to the executive director of AIIMS. The woman alleged that while she was performing her duties in the operating theater (OT), the doctor repeatedly touched her inappropriately and engaged in obscene behavior.

The AIIMS authorities immediately acted on the complaint by initiating a probe into the matter. They interrogated the doctor and subsequently dismissed him from his position. Meanwhile, the woman also reached out to the Mahila Police Station in Bilaspur on Thursday and filed a complaint against the doctor.

After this, the police filed a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A case under Sections 354 A for sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment and 509 for words, gestures, or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman under the IPC has been registered.

Confirming the registration of the case, Vivek Chahal, Superintendent of Police Bilaspur, informed the daily that a detailed investigation is in progress.

A few days ago, an orthopedician was booked after a female attendant filed a sexual harassment complaint against the latter in Thisayanvilai, alleging that he demanded sexual favor from her in exchange for treating her father while he was in an intoxicated state.
