Chennai: Toddler’s Head Stuck in Cooking Vessel, Firefighters Rescued

The Fire and Rescue Service (TNFRS) personnel in Tamil Nadu rescued an 18-month-old toddler whose head was stuck in a cooking vessel. The incident happened on Sunday in Porur, Chennai.

The toddler is identified as 18-month-old Krithigan. He is the son of Anand and Krithika from Mangala Nagar in Porur. Krithiga was playing in the kitchen area at home when he peeped into a cooking vessel and got his head stuck in it. His parents and neighbors tried to remove the cooking vessel, but no results. They informed the TNFRS for help. They immediately reached the spot and tried to release the child from the vessel.

Then they applied coconut oil to relieve the vessel from the toddler’s head but this method also showed no avail and caused the child pain. To assure the safety of the child, the fire and rescue service personnel first calmed the child. One personnel held the child’s head stable while the other personnel used the cutting pliers to carefully slice through the cooking vessel. After a 30-minute rescue operation, the fire and rescue service personnel successfully removed the vessel from the child's head without causing any harm. The entire incident is recorded in a video.

The toddler was taken to a hospital for treatment and the police confirmed that there were no injuries to the child.
