In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old female doctor suffered a cardiac arrest during her gym workout sessions, resulting in her demise. The incident reportedly happened in Kilpakkam, Chennai.

The doctor, who was identified as Anvita, was the daughter of a renowned ophthalmologist. She had recently graduated from Government Medical College Hospital, Kilpakkam, in Chennai, and was practicing at a private hospital.

On the day of the unfortunate incident, Anvita arrived at the gym at New Avadi Road in Kilpakkam around 7.30 pm and began her warmup routine. She had enrolled in a fitness centre for weight loss. Thereafter, she suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. According to gym sources, she was given initial medical attention by a physician who was also working out at the gym. The gym personnel then shifted Anvita to a nearby hospital for further medical assistance. The medical experts at the hospital examined her and declared that she had passed away due to cardiac arrest.

The doctors at the hospital have given the cause of death to be natural due to cardiac arrest. The deceased doctor’s parents thereafter took her body and cremated it. The Kilpakkam police personnel are also going through the CCTV footage at the gym and investigating the case.

This shocking incident has saddened Anvita’s family, friends, and the medical fraternity. Though the reason behind her death is unclear, there are speculations that it must have happened due to the COVID-19 vaccine. Such reports have gained momentum after a rise in several reported cases of sudden heart attacks in young individuals after the pandemic.

In a recent study conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), it was revealed that the cause behind the rising sudden cardiac arrests was a family history of sudden deaths, post-COVID-19 hospitalizations, rigorous physical activities, smoking, alcohol intake, etc., not the COVID-19 vaccines as speculated earlier. Citing this report, the Union Health Minister, Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, had also advised young people to abstain from rigorous exercise after COVID-19.
