Imagine relieving someone's pain just by using a special headset. Sounds unrealistic? That is exactly what's happening at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Doctors are using virtual reality to relieve patients' pain. 'Virtual medicine' immerses patients in three-dimensional images, soothing sites, and sounds to help them feel better and become healthier.

Dr. Brennan Speigel, Research Director of the centre, claims that using virtual reality has many therapeutic applications.

Dr. Speigel said that the technique can be used for eating disorders, high blood pressure, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, accident injuries, cancer, and many more. It can also be used for women in labor.
